BIO
Born in Beijing, China, raised in the United States and Canada, Xixi is a photographer with a
cross-cultural background. Through quiet yet deliberate compositions, her work explores the
unspoken pain of invisible conditions, drawing from her personal experience with scoliosis. She
often struggles to express her heaviest emotions, torn between the fear of burdening others and
the vulnerability of being misunderstood. Closely connected with art from a young age, she finds
a blank canvas or viewfinder far easier to face than people.
Xixi works across a broad range of mediums, including staged portraiture, alternative
photographic processes, 3D printing, and traditional art forms. By combining these approaches,
she expands the ways she can express messy emotions, balancing intimacy and experimentation.
She approaches art as a language that speaks where words falter, allowing her inner world to take
shape in unexpected ways.
